In clinical research, no two sites operate the same way but nearly all of them face the same challenges: rising compliance demands, shrinking timelines, and the burden of disconnected technology. That’s why we launched our 2025 Customer Feedback Survey—to better understand how our solutions are helping sites streamline operations and what gaps still exist in the site tech ecosystem.
The responses were clear: clinical research sites are leaning heavily on tech to stay compliant, audit-ready, and efficient but not all tools are created equal.
Who We Heard From
We gathered feedback from research organizations spanning every segment of the industry:
- 50% were independent research sites
- 21% represented hospital or healthcare systems
- 21% came from site networks or SMOs
- 7% were academic medical centers
Respondents included CEOs, CMOs, nurse coordinators, regulatory leads, and executive directors, providing a broad view of how site tech is working at every level.
Tech Stack Fatigue Is Real
Clinical research sites are using more tools than ever. In fact:
- Sites reported using an average of 5.9 platforms per study
- 50% of respondents use more than 5 systems daily, sometimes 10+
- 40% track training and delegation using tech-based systems, but 20% still rely on manual methods like Excel
It’s clear that while adoption is growing, fragmentation remains a top challenge. Sites are ready for more integrated, centralized solutions.
Where Tech Is Delivering the Most Value
Sites overwhelmingly cited Clinical.ly’s eReg solution as a key driver of efficiency. Here’s where they saw the most impact:
- Regulatory Compliance
- Digital binders, document version control, and real-time signature tracking all contribute to faster, cleaner compliance.
- Sites using Clinical.ly’s eReg report better visibility, streamlined workflows, and fewer errors:
“Clinical.ly has completely streamlined our regulatory workflow. I don’t know what we would do without it!”
- Startup Acceleration
- Time saved during startup was a consistent theme, with some sites reporting:
- 150% faster study activation using templated logs, remote PI signature workflows, and automated routing.
- Audit Readiness
- With built-in alerts, automated trackers, and centralized document access, audits have become far less stressful.
“The platform has brought structure, clarity, and efficiency. We’re always inspection-ready now.”
Sites Want More
While feedback was overwhelmingly positive, sites also shared opportunities to evolve:
- Integration is top of mind. Sites want fewer tools and more connectivity between eReg, eConsent, CTMS, and payments.
- Training compliance is still inconsistent. Many rely on spreadsheets or hybrid systems for delegation logs and GCP tracking.
And perhaps most importantly:
“I’ve found the company to be extremely responsive to their customer needs. They’ve built flexibility into the system while maintaining a high degree of proper controls.”
That’s the kind of feedback we build from.
What’s Next
As we continue expanding Clinical.ly’s Research Suite, this kind of feedback directly shapes our roadmap. We’ll be using these insights to refine our products, support teams, and onboarding strategy with the same goal we’ve always had:
To make clinical trials easier for the people doing the work.
