This year, the Clinical.ly team traveled to Oklahoma City for the 2nd annual Save Our Sites Conference. SOS is a dynamic three-day event designed to support clinical research site professionals in boosting operational efficiency, financial success, and long-term growth.
Numerous sites approached Angel Pettit, our EVP of Business Operations, to discuss operational efficiency, how to address continuously tightening budgets, and the impact of the regulatory landscape on revenue. The industry landscape remains challenging, causing many sites to lean on technology to augment staffing shortages and improve employee productivity. Many sites view adopting electronic systems as necessary to stay competitive.
Key Takeaways
Thought leaders participating on panels covering a broad range of topics continue to echo the true and tried principles of:
- Putting patients ahead of profits
- Actively engaging Sponsors and CROs to accelerate BD
- Investing in your staff
- Centralizing quality
Focusing on these four factors remains the best strategy to grow your organization.
AI Adoption
AI, and more specifically, generative AI (GenAI), surfaced multiple times in various sessions. The consensus for the time being is “meh.” Although AI shows promise, it is currently the most applicable to recruitment and data mining. Its inaccuracy (hallucinations) prevents it from being adopted at scale and without human oversight. Additionally, data privacy remains a key concern for sites and how best to adopt this technology. Our CEO, Henry Kravchenko, mentioned that adopting GenAI while staying HIPAA compliant entails hosting and training AI models in-house. This means ChatGPT is out of the question!
The SOS Conference allowed the Clinical.ly team to connect with sites to discuss their challenges and goals for 2025 and to ask attendees, “What can we do?” This opportunity is invaluable as the Clinical.ly Research Suite is built exclusively on customer feedback!
